Well 225 miles today when further than we wanted to but we got to the dragon... Wow I know this is a pretty lame thing to say but wow if you like to do twistys that's all that's here. You can ride it fast but unless you know it well and all other traffic is stopped you cant ride it to fast or you take your life into you own hands. That being said everyone that like to ride should come and do the area not just the gap the area the ride here was great except for the heat. I will put more tomorrow we are staying in the area for a couple days and i'm sleepy tonight.
Yes we were tired just through everything everywhere.
had to get this photo look how tired James looks
James running down the highway
Saw it and couldnt miss it

If you want to follow us on 6-30 look up google maps then hit directions from Campbellsville, Ky to Robbinsville, Nc then click on Options then hit avoid highways. Now this is what I call some twisty roads. I will take more photos for everyone tomorrow. Thanks for following.

Well what do you call this trip.
hot hot hot... Or over 105deg only... Or the trip I have been waiting for for 10 years. Whatever you want to call it lets just say awsome....

This is me leaving taking the photo myself.

We left from Indy and took 135 all the way to Kentucky. Great road great twistys but really hot 101deg when we left and got to 108.5deg. We stoped often to refuel (water) we even had our water packs on but at 108 degreees its just never enough liquid, but we did keep hydrated and we didnt have any cramping issues. I credit my brother in law Rich with the best advice ever, and thats if you only drink when your thirsty its too late, you need to pre hydrate and then keep it up and he was right thank you Rich.

James on the road.

Me in Trafalgar for lunch.
We stoped in Salem Indiana and got some drinks and relaxed and met some nice people its funny how friendly people are when your traveling on a bike, or at least our bikes. We even had a nice older women come up and ask us for directions. We came to Campbellsville, Ky by hwy 210 it was a great road twistys and up and down hills, just a great road but we were pretty tired so it would have been good to hit it earlier in the day. You can see by the photos when we left and a stop in Salem.

Does James look tired or what. I will take more photos tomorrow it was just so hot hard to concentrate on everything.

planning the trip

Well, it all started with the 1st ride.  Dave and I went for a trip around Lake Michigan over the bridge and back. Add that with the touring I did when I was younger, it got me back into it wanting to to tour. But it first started with getting the bikes and thanks to my very loving wife we were able to upgrade. I had a BMW K1200LT and James a Honda Nighthawk 650 and it was getting to the point that neither were ready for a long ride so we had to update and did we update. James to a ER6N and me to a 1600GTL; so were set to go touring. But where do we go? Well, after talking about it for several weeks; we decided that we are going to ride to Deals Gap and then do some of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Unfortunately, this time around Dave is not going we will miss him and his fishing skills. We will also post our photos later of the BMW Rally in Sedalia, MO that is coming up in July 19, 20 and 21st.
You can see my old bike and the newer one above and will post James bike soon.
I will let you know on where we are going (route) so you can follow and see the countdown of only 17 days till takeoff.
Thanks again to my wife for making this all possible we would be lost without you.

Here is the photo of James' bike almost 5k miles already.
We leave on the 29th of June will be gone about a week and looking to do 1000 to 1200 or so miles so not a huge trip but it is the most I think James could do on his bike. Will post more later.
